Human Resource for health is one of the core building blocks of a health system in any country and Kenya is no exception. Global evidence points to a direct correlation between the competence and size of a country’s health workforce and its health outcomes. Since 1987, MEDS has been at the fore–front in supporting Faith–based health facilities in offering need–based capacity building interventions and so far trained over 40,000 health professionals through our various training programs.

This year 2021, owing to the disruptions of health facilities systems, MEDS intends to provide capacity building solutions tosupport health facilities mitigate against adverse impact of COVID–19pandemic. Convenient learning opportunities will target health professionals with well–thought relevant training programs, with minimal interruptions, maximum interactions and at affordable costs.

This will be achieved through blending face to face trainings and virtual interactions. These courses have creatively been tailored from clients’ feedback and training needs assessment in past years. MEDS approach to training is hinged on the concept of Mastery Learningwhich states that all participants can learn and master the required knowledge, skills and attitudes provided sufficient time is allowed and appropriate training methods used.

The approach to learning is therefore competence-based and is distinctly different from traditional didactic processes. MEDS adopts learning by doing –focusing on the specific knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to carry out a procedure or activity. The training is geared towards ensuring that participants perform tasks for which they were trained.
